Meta Tags on every Website Forge page
January 19th, 2007 at 9:28 am   starstarstarstarstar

Recently more people have asked to specify meta-tags separately on each page instead of sitewide.  About 4 months ago Website Forge was upgraded so that you can place meta-tags (keywords and phrases for search engines) on each individual page OR enter them once and publish them site-wide.

Thank you Fran from www.woodchef.com for reminding me to post this recent upgrade to the BLOG for all to see!

Hi -

What about having meta tags for each individual product? I would like to see a different title, keywords, description each time I would go to a different product. The only way to do this right now is to create a single page for every item which would be fine, but would take a lot of time when you have the amount of sku's that we have. Just wondering if this will ever be a possibility??

Thanks

Hi Nikki. This is a good question and would result in a pretty long and technical conversation. Without having that conversation let me give you the most effective answer.

Froogle is meant for this very purpose. We can theorize about the best way to keyword the pages -- however Froogle was designed to assure your inventory is indexed exactly how you intended. If you read the Froogle documentation there is a field called "keywords" that you can populate.

You can create a product field called KEYWORDS and put a comma delimited list of keywords for every product. Then when you map and download your Froogle file in the Website Forge Member's area you can included this field and achieve the result you were looking for.
