Froogle File Compatibility
January 21st, 2007 at 8:53 pm   starstarstarstarstar

Today Brian Shockley from www.shopbakersnook.com brought to me a new Froogle program designed to allow you to more easily upload your products to Froogle.  Website Forge is already Froogle compatible.  My understanding is that this new program from Froogle will make it easier to transform your inventory export file to a Valid Froogle file. While I have not yet tested this, the idea sounds good. I'll keep in touch with Brian to see how this works for him and post any new information as we get it.

Here is the link to the "Froogle Store Connector" http://www.google.com/base/storeconnector

How does Froogle help your web business?

With all different types of data driven e-commerce sites, it is often difficult for Google or any search engine to assure your products are indexed for searches as you intended them.  Froogle is Google's way of allowing you to define your products the way they were meant to be displayed and searched.  The result is better and more exact search engine penetration.  Many Website Forge customers told me thier order rate increased substantially after submitting to Froogle.  Website Forge is one of the few e-commerce engines that is Froogle Compatible automatically.

It looks like it only supports yahoo stores and e-bay stores not the wf system. I have an e-mail into there tech support to see if I can get it to work with wf.
Thank you
Brian

Froogle does help your Store. It is a free upload and it is very easy to do so why not do it? Websiteforge has made it easy just point and click ( froogle export )and your done. You would be surprised how many free clicks you will get for your products. If you need help tech support will tell you how to do it. It took me about 1 min to download my entire inventory to my desktop and about 2 min to upload my entire inventory to froogle which is 2,227 products as of now.
Thank you
Brian

Hi -

I just wanted to pass this email I received from Google about Froogle/Google Base in case others didn't receive it...

Froogle Merchant Announcement
New product upload requirements
Hello,

As you know, we're always looking for new ways to improve our product search experience, both for our users and for content providers. We've found that one of the most effective ways to help users conduct faster and more effective searches is to describe products with relevant attributes - ideally those assigned by the people who best understand their own products, meaning you.

That's why we're asking all Froogle merchants to send us bulk uploads in the Google Base format, with five additional attributes (along with the basic ones you've submitted in the past). Because we think it's important to provide a consistent user experience, we will no longer list items that don't meet a minimal number of attributes by the end of February 2007.

You can review this attribute requirement page to learn about these new guidelines for general product attributes and specific attributes per product type. You can also learn how to submit your feed using Google Base here. We recommend that you include as many attributes as possible; the more information you provide, the better chance you'll have of matching users' "refinement" queries.

We hope you'll continue enjoying the benefits of listing your products on Google, and even increase your potential customer base using the new Google Base format.

Thanks,
The Google Base Team

Hi Nikki. Brian emailed me about 5 minutes before you posted this :) -- Thank you both for participating in the BLOG. The increased communication really helps.

It's easy to handle. Froogle will specify the fields you need. You can add additional fields within the WF member's area to you product items and then map them to Froogle. No changes needed to be done to the Website Forge e-commerce system -- however a little configuration work will be needed on your end.

Contact Website Forge support if and when Froogle rejects your current file layout and we can coach you on the new configuration.
