Drop shipping – is it what you think it is?

The need for automatic drop shipping has increased substantially over the last year and I suspect that it will continue to become more and more popular.I am horrified to see what some web site firms advertise as a “drop shipping” feature.

What drop shipping IS (and how Website Forge handles it):

  • To assign unique drop shipping vendors with different origination addresses
  • To notify the drop shipper of the order and customer's billing address for shipment.  Only items pertaining to that drop shipper is mailed.
  • To keep YOUR customer's credit card information and the retail price paid confidential
  • To compute the shipping cost to your customer accurately using the origination addresses of each drop shipper.  This means the Website Forge system will re-compute the UPS, USPS, Fed-Ex, and DHL shipping for each drop shipper and give you the total shipping.
  • And more..

What drop shipping IS NOT:

  • It is not drop shipping if the system emails a copy of your full order to a vendor – making them purvey to your profit margin (if you choose to keep it private)
  • It is not drop shipping when you can only have one drop shipper
  • It is not drop shipping if your e-commerce solution cannot compute the shipping for UPS, USPS, Fed-Ex, and DHL automatically for EACH individual drop shipper location.

Require more from your e-commerce web site provider.  Make sure that you are getting what you expect.  After all – your website is supposed to save you time and money.  Right?
