.MOBI is out of the bag - Website Forge e-commerce web site design
June 22nd, 2011 at 5:05 pm   starstarstarstarstar

Well, as Brian Shockly mentioned -- a bit prematurely :)  Website Forge plans to provide a .mobi version of your e-commerce web site on-demand.

It's true that Website Forge e-commerce web sites work perfectly on most mobile devices -- some people request that a smaller/ligher version run across a .mobi for a number of reasons.

So "coming soon" -- MOBI functionality for your Website Forge e-commerce web site.

Thanks Brian for making me jump on really fast and make this annoucement at 5:12PM .. LOL

I'm sure there will be plenty of typos in this post.  :)

Stay tuned

Why would we need to purchase the .mobi if the platorm is going to recognize if the user is coming in through a mobile platform? Wouldn't it be redirecting to a mobile version of the site recreated within Website Forge, or do we need to create that new version ourselves?

Good question.  Because it seems the search engines are looking for .mobi domains to help prove that they do, in fact, have mobile formatting.  You don't HAVE to use .mobi.  It's just a benefit SEO-wise.
