 What is "Responsive Design"?

I get asked this question ALL THE TIME!

Let's make it as simple as possible without all of the technical jargon

A responsive website RESPONDS TO YOUR DEVICE.

A Responsive Website adjusts itself, wrapping text and images, navigation or entire sections of content to fit whatever size device is viewing it.

Making your website look great for EVERY DEVICE!

This replaces the need for separate pages served for mobile devices only.  Rather the same website is served to all devices and optimized for all devices.

This method saves the need for two websites, and or managing separate "mobile version" pages.  The responsive design method is recommended by Google and will receive favorability in the search engines - giving you a valuable advantage over your competition.

This means that if your are on an Ipad, Galaxy Tab, or Note a responsive website detects NOT ONLY that you are on an Ipad, Galaxy Tab, or Note (or any tablet) but it ALSO detects what direction the Ipad, Galaxy Tab, or Note is (wide or tall) and can display content based on that information.

You can witness an example of this in the video below. You can also check by going to www.websiteforge.com on your Desktop, then on your smartphone or other mobile device..

Does your Website Look Great On All Devices?

You may think..."I just sell this...or I just do that" with my website.  Thinking that your site is not "big enough" to need to do this is a mistake.  This is the industry standard.  You will at some point need to move to a responsive design.  Why not now?  Why not beat out your competition and provide the absolute BEST experience on all devices for your customers?

Having a responsive website for your business is the key to having a successful business on the internet. Responsive designed websites out preform old school websites 2 to 1.

Google has said they prefer responsive designed websites.

Do you know why they said that?

It saves them bandwidth usage which in turn saves them money.

Having a responsive website means that Google Bot now only needs to crawl only 1 website. If Google Bot needs to crawl your separate mobile website and your desktop website then that costs them double the money in bandwidth use.

Updating to a new responsive site for your Ecommerce needs is a no brainier.
