Click to Skip Intro?

I'll keep this one short.  For those of you who think you want a "Flash Introduction" or  animation as the home page of your site, think again.  Do you really think some cool spinning logo and some rock music is going to make you money?  It's not.  I have developed hundreds of web sites and call it crazy, but the goal is to make money right?  So listen to me carefully on this next sentence.  Forcing a prospect to watch an animation before entering your web site WILL NOT increase your sales.  A clean, fast, easy to use web site with great copy will increase sales because it will make it easy for your visitors to find what they need.

I'm not saying Flash animations are not useful.  I use flash for many purposes.  I use flash to provide training, demonstrate a product and play audio.  These are things a web site visitor can choose to watch to learn more about your products and services.  Don't force this visitor to watch an animation to enter your web site.  As a rule of thumb -- if your flash introduction contains a "Click to skip intro" link then it should not be there in the first place.

Listen.  Take the money you would of spent on a flash animation and spend it on marketing, inventory or something else.
