Please give us your new feature ideas!

This post is created to let everyone post new feature ideas and discuss them.  I'm sure we can't do all them instantly.  However we can learn and depending on how many people ask for the same feature we can prioritize them.

I'll kick this off with a few suggestions...

1) Ability to make more layout modifications on the "Product Details" pages. Instead of just having all options listed, they could be moved around the page in frames.

2) More options with the "Category List" frames. A couple I can think off off-and would be to mask top-level categories from appearing (if I am down a level and don't want anyone to move up a level) and the ability to modify the font, color etc. of the list.

I have plenty more I'll post eventually...

What about building this blog feature into the Website Forge system?

Hi Justin. A good start.

>>BLOG - We are already planning exactly that. It will be integrated into our membership system so users won't have to register twice.

>> MODIFY PRODUCT DETAIL PAGES - You actually can modify that page substantially. If you have more suggestions please sketch or layout something rough in a document and send it to me via support@websiteforge.com and I'll get with the team and discuss it.

>> MASK TOP LEVEL CATS - This is the first request we had for this. Can you explain more why you'd want this?

Keep the ideas flowing. We can't promise them all immediatly -- however we are listening and all upgrades will be carefully considered.

You folks at WSF do a terrific job at rolling out new features (at no additional cost) to us existing users on a regular basis. Implementing a WSF blog is a great idea. When will this feature be available to the masses?

There was a time about a year ago that you let me test a blog on one of my WSF sites, but the thing got spammed out of commission, mostly by gambling sites. Do you see a time when non-spammable WSF blogs will become user options?

Hi Tim. Yes. Actually we are writing one from scratch that will integrate with your site membership module. And YES. Just like this one, there will be anti-spam measures and moderated posts.

Thanks

A master mode for product details. (were you can change font size or do what ever to the product description with out going to every product and changing it)

A product ingredients list. It would be like view details but separate from the view details list.

Buying from wish list

M-5 view details image upgrade. When A person on my website copy's and pastes a picture of 1 of my products and sends it to another person from my website that is the right picture and details of that product when they click on it.

Ability to see how many people dump there cart and leave your site.

Real time tracking of customers shopping on your site.

An integrated customer chat solution with wf this should improve page load times with out using third party software.

Mozilla compatibility

The 1 page solution for customer check out. This should be a nice feature were the customer just needs to stay on 1 page to do there entire check out.

Support for Google payment solutions. They are doing free payment processing this year for new customers.

I have more but this is my big to do list :)

Brian,

>> A master mode for product details. (were you can change font size or do what ever to the product description with out going to every product and changing it)

I believe we already have that. You can apply custom formatting to Large Text fields under Item List frame settings. This way the Product Description (or any other Large Text field can appear with formatting you specify there... different from what you have in the DB.... however be careful because HTML tags from the two sources may interfere). I think this should do exactly what you are looking for.

>> A product ingredients list. It would be like view details but separate from the view details list.

Not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate? You can created your own (custom) pages that can be in fact EXACT as the pre-build modular pages. You can of course modify those custom pages in any way.

>> Buying from wish list

This is already on our to-do list. Just a little complicated technically so we didn't have a chance to do the upgrade yet. We'll implement this when we can.

>> M-5 view details image upgrade. When A person on my website copy's and pastes a picture of 1 of my products and sends it to another person from my website that is the right picture and details of that product when they click on it.

Sorry not following. How can someone copy and paste an image along with the description etc. which is part of a larger html page?

>> Ability to see how many people dump there cart and leave your site.

>> Real time tracking of customers shopping on your site.

Sorry these two are tough technical wise so we can't promise something specific in this area in the near future. Of course we will consider these features eventually. Thanks for sharing great ideas.

>> An integrated customer chat solution with WF this should improve page load times with out using third party software.

Not quite sure what you mean. But we already have a simple chat integrated with WF (check out Chat frame type under Membership module). You can set up that chat frame to allow your members use it.

>> Mozilla compatibility

Front end (your site) or back end (WF member's area)?

>> The 1 page solution for customer check out. This should be a nice feature were the customer just needs to stay on 1 page to do there entire check out.

I remember you bringing that up already. We are investigating this.

>> Support for Google payment solutions. They are doing free payment processing this year for new customers.

Can't comment on this yet. I will get back to you if I have something specific to say.

Hi Andy and Brian. I'm very insterested in the "Abandoned Cart" tracking and current shoppers too. Andy let's discuss putting a slightly higher priority on this to get an idea of what it will take in terms of time and cost.

>> Chat.

Andy, I think he means a chat script for support. LIVE HELP. The chat we have now is for members to chat with each other and we have not actually announced this feature. I'll put it in the Upgrades topic soon. We can use the same technology to provide a LIVE SUPPORT system to customers to reduce cost and improve performance and page load. Let's talk to the team about this too.

I have customers who see a product on my site and then they send a picture of that product to there friends. When they click on that product link which was sent to them it does not show them that specfic product it will show a default picture.
